Hitman Card Game Tier List
S through D for the default deck, plus how the ranking shifts in Ranked 1v1 and Teams.
This tier list ranks Hitman Card Game cards by how often they steal or save a round when both players know the rules. It is not a rarity list — cosmetics in the shop do not appear here. Play value changes by mode, so Ranked exclusives have their own page: Ranked cards. Learn timings in the cards guide before you memorize letters.
Assumptions: default Casual deck, Starter Angels on, five-player table, you already understand How to Play. Solo 1v1 and full Teams notes sit under each rank.
S tier — round-defining
Angel (Support). Your life. Never donate it to Steal if you can throw a Bottom instead. Playing Angel ends the turn, cannot be Canceled, and lets you park Hitman at top / second / third / bottom / random. In Teams, you can spend it to save a teammate. Multiple Angels in hand license greedy draws.
Cancel (Quick Play). Stops almost everything except another Cancel and Angel. Hold it for Attack stacks, Steal-on-last-card, Inferno that would strip your Angels, and late Future. Mirror cannot copy Cancel, which makes Cancel the cleanest anti-Mirror tool.
Inferno (Quick Play). Burns every copy of a named card from all hands back into the deck. Best used to delete opponent Angels you are not currently saving against, or to strip Skips in a one-card endgame. If only one card remains in the deck, burned cards stack on top — a nasty extra draw trick.
A tier — always keep one
Skip and Reverse (Support). End the turn without drawing. Reverse also flips order, which only matters with 3+ players; in 1v1 it is a Skip. Save them for sub-10-card decks. Do not dump them while an Attack stack is sitting on you if you still have Angel — card advantage matters more than the extra turns.
Mirror (Wild). Copies the last pile card. The famous line is copying Angel to survive a Hitman without spending your real Angel. Also doubles Attack and Steal. Never Mirror Shuffle (you randomize a known deck). Never give Mirror away to Steal if you can help it.
Future (Support). Peek top three. Save for ~25%+ death chance or 2–5 cards left. Teammates share the vision in Teams. Expect Cancel when the table is crowded.
B tier — strong with setup
Attack (Target). Target takes two extra turns; stacks 2-4-6-8. Burst it. Self-Attack after a clean Future peek draws extra cards. Three or four Attacks including Mirrors usually force an Angel. There are more Attacks than Cancels in the deck — bait the Cancel first.
Steal (Target). Opponent chooses the card you receive. Only steal when they have one card left (often Angel) or when you can chain Steal + Mirror to empty a known Angel. In Teams, request-card exists, so stealing allies is a waste.
Chain (Quick Play). Locks that card type in hands for three turns. Best lock is Angel: a chained Angel cannot save a Hitman draw. Ranked players also Chain after Attack stacks to freeze counterplay.
Shuffle (Quick Play / New Shuffle). Full randomize. Play it when Hitman is known on top and you refuse to spend Skip. Quick Play Shuffle after an opponent Future or self-Attack wrecks their plan. In Ranked, Shuffle after they Angel-save creates a Cancel-or-die fork.
C tier — situational
Bottom (Support). Draw from the bottom instead of the top. The panic button when Hitman is known on top and you still need a card. Ends the turn by drawing, so you still cycle the deck.
Hitman (Death). Not a playable keep. The ranking is about how you place it after Angel. Top is a knife. Bottom is a stall. Random is a bluff when Future is out.
Mode swings
- Ranked: Pirate and Rewind jump to A/S. See Ranked cards.
- Teams: Shield (blocks Steal, Cancel, Pirate success, Inferno burn, Chain) and Super Attack (mass +2 turns on the other team) join A. Old Shuffle replaces Quick Shuffle.
- Vote / temporary: Redirect, Fake Shuffle, Clone — treat as tech until Vaulted.
Use this list with tips for when to switch from greedy early draws to Skip-lock endgames. Tiers are starting points, not excuses to auto-play Inferno the first time you see an Angel across the table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players actually search for.
What is the best card in Hitman Card Game?
Angel, then Cancel. Without Angel you die to Hitman; without Cancel you lose to Attack stacks.
Does the tier list change in Ranked?
Yes. Pirate and Rewind are Ranked-only and both climb. Details on Ranked cards.
Should I always Inferno Angels?
Only if you have no Angel and opponents do. Inferno cannot stop an Angel already resolving.
Is Mirror S tier?
A tier. It is S-tier only in the specific Angel-copy window.
