How to Play

This is the rules page. Card-by-card text lives in Cards. First-hour lobby clicks live in Getting Started. Here we only care about what you are allowed to do on a turn and why people freeze when death chance ticks up.

Objective

Be the last player (or last team) alive. The only elimination is drawing the Hitman card without a legal save. Chips, Daily Challenges, and cosmetics do not keep you in the round.

Your turn — two real options

When the indicator hits you, you may:

  1. Play a card from your hand, then follow that card’s “ends turn?” flag.
  2. Draw the top card of the deck. If it is not Hitman, it joins your hand and the turn usually ends. If it is Hitman, you die or you save.

You can play several Quick Play and combo cards before a draw — Attack into Mirror, Future then self-Attack, Steal into another Steal. The turn is not “one card then forced draw” unless you have nothing left that skips the draw.

Ways to end a turn without taking the top card:

  • Skip — pass.
  • Reverse — pass and flip direction (identical to Skip in 1v1).
  • Angel — after a save, you already spent the turn.
  • Attack on someone else — you hand them extra turns instead of drawing.

Bottom still draws, just from the bottom of the deck. It is how you refuse a known-top Hitman while still cycling.

Other people’s turns — Quick Play

Cards with the lightning mark can interrupt:

  • Cancel — negate the pile card (not Angel, not another Cancel).
  • Inferno — negate plus burn that card type from all hands into the deck.
  • Chain — lock that card type for three turns.
  • Shuffle — randomize the deck even off-turn.
  • Pirate (Ranked) — try to steal a duplicate of the card just played.
  • Redirect / Fake Shuffle when those vote cards are in the deck.

If you Cancel someone’s Skip, they are still on their turn and must do something else — often a panicked draw. That is why holding Cancel for endgame Skips is a ranked line on the Ranked cards page.

Death and Angel placement

Drawing Hitman is instant elimination unless you play Angel (or a Mirror copying a just-played Angel). Angel cannot be Canceled. You then place Hitman:

  • Top — next drawer likely dies. Knife when they have no Skip.
  • Second / Third — dodges a single Skip or a Future peek.
  • Bottom — stalls; pairs with your own Bottom later.
  • Random — shows a slot number; useful when you know they have Future and you want noise.

In Teams, a teammate can spend their Angel for you. The team only loses when every member is dead.

Chained Angel does not protect you. If Chain is sitting on Angel, you must Skip/Reverse/Bottom until the lock expires or you die. Cancel the Chain on the way in if you can.

Attack stacks

Attack makes a player take two extra turns. Stacks add: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. Playing Angel clears Attack stacks — another reason not to waste Angel as a fake Skip. Super Attack (four-plus players or Teams) applies +2 to everyone else (other team only in Teams).

If Attack is on you and you still have Angel, it is often correct to keep Skip in hand and ride the extra draws while the deck is fat. Early game Hitman density is low, especially at two players with a single Hitman in a large deck.

Winning the round

When one seat remains, they take the pot. You still earn Chips for cards played, survival time, and Daily Challenge progress even if you place second. That is why throwing your whole hand to “look scary” is bad economy — empty hands get Stolen for their last Angel and you still lose the pot.

Practice the loop in rooms with a long turn timer, then tighten to 10 seconds. Ranked uses that clock whether you are ready or not.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers players actually search for.

Do I have to draw every turn?

No. Skip, Reverse, Angel, and attacking someone else can end your turn without a top-deck draw.

Can I Cancel an Angel?

No. Angel is not cancelable. Inferno also cannot stop an Angel already resolving.

When can I play Cancel?

As Quick Play after almost any card, even off-turn. Not after another Cancel.

How do I win a Teams round?

At least one teammate must still be alive. Shared Angels and Shield are covered in Teams.
